The publishers background
One of the owners of Oldland Consulting Ltd has been involved in the villa holiday business since 1974. Until 2001 he was Managing Director of Something Special, at the time the UK's largest villa holiday company. David thinks the important factors to take into account when booking a villa holiday either as a package or by buying individual components are:
1) Is this supplier bonded? (is my money safe?). A new service to protect your holiday in the event of supplier insolvency was launched recently by IPP, visit www.ProtectMyHoliday.com for details.
2) Does the holiday villa have all the attributes that I am looking for; dishwasher, washing machine, hair dryers, satellite TV, heated pool, air-conditioning, etc.
3) Do I know the distance from the holiday villa to; the beach, the nearest supermarket, the nearest restaurant, etc.
Finally - do not leave health and safety to the villa supplier - a villa can be a dangerous place - consider pool safety, consider gas water heaters, consider uncovered wells in the grounds, consider gaps in fences, hedgerows etc. It takes 15 minutes to wander around a villa and its grounds looking for hidden dangers - if you do not like what you find, contact the villa supplier or his local representative immediately, do not leave your family's safety to chance.
